Traditional Chinese Medicine & Yin Yoga
VIRTUAL VIA ZOOM with Leah Adams (10 CE HRS)
Dec 17, 18 2020
3-5pm and 6:30-9pm
This immersion dives deep into the energetics of the season of winter and the element of water and explores the relationship between Yin Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine. We'll workshop the classic forward bend and backbend poses that are offered in Yin Yoga class and discover posture variations that honor skeletal variation. You can expect to leave with an embodied understanding of the spinal flexion and extension pose group as well as the key acupressure points for the KI/UB, used for intuition and longevity. The immersion also includes a brief history of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a discussion on the formal translation of the characters for qi and meridian.
What we'll explore together:
A brief history of Traditional Chinese Medicine
The translation of the characters for qi and meridian
Classic yin spinal flexion and extension postures
Acupressure points for winter wellness and grounding
Journal prompts on the essence of being in flow
The specific medicine of winter and water through the lens of TCM
The relationship between qi and breath
This immersion is focused on nourishing the tissues of the spine and grounding the energetic body. It is appropriate for both teachers and students of Yin Yoga alike. Within our Zoom room, using intention and directed awareness, we can tap into our interwoven energetic system to feel into the wisdom of community.
