with Kendall Tetsworth
January 20, 27 & February 3, 10, 17
Tuesdays | 6:00 - 7:15 p.m.
Location: The Annex
If you’ve been curious about starting a regular meditation practice — or deepening an existing one — but aren’t sure where to begin, this five-week series offers a thoughtful and accessible introduction to meditation and mindfulness. Through guided practice, discussion, and reflection, we’ll explore how these ancient traditions continue to support balance, clarity, and well-being in modern life. Along the way, Kendall will share tools to help you establish your own ongoing practice, and together we’ll examine how various meditation lineages have evolved to meet contemporary needs such as stress reduction, emotional regulation, and recovery.
Some of the Questions We’ll Explore:
•
What is the point of meditation?
•
What exactly is mindfulness, and how is it different from meditation?
•
How do I know if I’m “doing it right”?
•
Do I need a specific tradition or teacher to practice?
•
How can these practices fit into a busy modern lifestyle?
•
What are the proven benefits for mental, emotional, and physical health?
•
What to Expect
Each week will focus on a distinct meditation lineage or approach, highlighting its origins, philosophical context, and practical applications. Together, we’ll explore how breath-based concentration, open awareness, loving-kindness, mantra, and movement-based practices cultivate presence, compassion, and stability — both on and off the mat.
To help support you in sustaining your meditation journey beyond the series, you’ll also receive take-home resources — this may include recommended readings, practice recordings, and tips for daily integration — as well as resources for connecting with local and online meditation communities.
By bridging historical wisdom with modern insight, this series offers a meaningful foundation for anyone seeking a steady, adaptable path toward greater awareness and ease in daily life.
