Wild Renewal: 5-Day Yoga Retreat on Orcas Island

with Mackenzie Rae

Join Mackenzie for five days at the beautiful Doe Bay Resort along the shores of Orcas Island for a chance to step away from the momentum of everyday life, unplug from technology, and reconnect with the wisdom of the natural world. Through daily yoga, meditation, embodied connection with the land, and moments of stillness, we'll create space to soften the nervous system, quiet the mind, and return more deeply to the home of our bodies.

As spring awakens the natural world, we too are invited into a season of renewal. This time of year is especially magical in the San Juan Islands, as longer days and fresh growth invite a renewed sense of energy and perspective. Together, we'll explore what is ready to be released, what is asking to grow, and what it means to live in greater alignment with the rhythms of nature and with ourselves.

Between practices, you'll have time to wander forest trails, enjoy the spa, sit with the rolling tides of the bay, explore the island, or simply rest beneath the trees. Come as you are. Leave feeling more at home in your body, more connected to the natural world and the wild rhythm of being alive.

About the Property

Perched on a quiet cove along the southeastern shore of Orcas Island, Doe Bay Resort is a peaceful wellness oasis that has long served as a place of gathering and refuge. Once a traditional sanctuary for the Coast Salish tribes, today the property continues that legacy as a tranquil retreat space surrounded by old-growth forests, rocky shoreline, and native wildlife, looking out across across Rosario Strait and San Juan Island archipelago, creating a setting that invites both exploration and stillness.

Spread throughout the 38-acre property are a collection of group lodges, rustic cabins, yurts, and campsites connected by fern-lined paths, along with a cozy waterfront yoga studio, pebbly beaches, forest trails, and a spa featuring cedar sauna and saltwater soaking tubs overlooking the cove. Shared gathering spaces include a community fire pit, general store stocked with locally crafted goods and island provisions, and the renowned Doe Bay Café, where seasonal farm-to-table meals highlight ingredients harvested from the property's organic farm and sourced from nearby islands.

Accommodations

Our group will stay in a collection of four deluxe cabins that are nestled across a few different settings within Doe Bay’s grounds, all within a short walk of the yoga studio, café, spa, and central gathering spaces. Each cabin is single-story with 2–3 bedrooms and naturally blends rustic Northwest charm with the relaxed feel of island living. Both shared and private room options include electric heat, quality bed linens and bath towels, and shared access to a full bathroom, living area, and kitchenette or full kitchen. Additional shared-use bathrooms are available throughout the property if needed.

Traveling as a couple? If you'd prefer your own private studio cabin with a private bathroom, please contact us for availability and a custom quote.

Shared Room — $1395

Shared room accommodations are located in the Agni and Padma bunkhouses, peaceful cedar cabins tucked among towering evergreens overlooking the upper meadow. Set a little ways back from the resort's central gathering spaces (5-8 min walk), these cabins offer a quieter, more secluded setting with distant water views from the porch and warm fir interiors that feel distinctly northwest.

Private Room — $1895

Private rooms are housed in the Cypress and Peapod cabins, charming cottages centrally located in the lower meadow with beautiful water views. Just steps from the yoga studio and a short stroll from the café, lodge, and general store, these cabins feature bright shiplap interiors with a vintage coastal aesthetic. Each cabin has 2–3 bedrooms, a shared bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and an outdoor sitting porch angled toward the sea.
