We will gather and stay at Willka T’ika retreat center which sits in Peru’s Sacred Valley of the Incas, one of the most energetically charged places on Earth — making it the perfect spot to unplug and restore your mind, body, and soul. Nestled in the Andes mountains, close to Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, we invite you to explore rich Peruvian culture and flavors while you immerse in guided yoga and mindfulness practices with our special BYC community.

What’s Included

  • 8 days / 7 nights accommodation at Willka T’ika Retreat Center

  • Daily yoga programming led by Claire and Jacque (except on Machu Picchu excursion day)

  • Organic, vegetarian meals for breakfast & dinner daily ( + three lunches) featuring Andean flavors with local grains, herbs, vegetables harvested from Willka T’ika’s onsite gardens (three lunches will be self-provided / in-town to encourage support of local restaurants)

  • Ground transfer between Cusco Airport and the retreat center (only if traveling during our preferred, designated arrival/departure windows)

  • 60-min Pre-retreat Group Orientation Call via zoom to review trip details and for Q & A session

  • 24-28 CEUs available for yoga teachers to put toward BYC’s 300-Hr Advanced Yoga Studies Program or Yoga Alliance Cont. Ed.

  • Yoga + Mindfulness Classes appropriate for all levels will be led by Claire and Jacque twice daily.* Morning sessions will include meditation, mantra (yogic chanting), and energizing asana. Evening sessions will have a slower and more calming pace, integrating breathwork and nervous system practices.

    *Except on Machu Picchu excursion day and arrival/departure days (only once per day).

  • DAY 1:

    1:30 p.m. — Arrival / Check-in

    4:30 p.m. — Yoga practice

    6:30 p.m. — Dinner (3-course family-style)

    DAY 2-3 / 5-7:

    5:30 a.m. — Complimentary organic coffee and herbal teas offered in dining area (teas available until dinner time. Coffee & other beverages can be purchased at the coffee bar after 10:30 a.m.)

    7:00 a.m. — Energizing asana and meditation practice

    8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. — Buffet Breakfast

About the Property

Located in the heart of Peru’s Sacred Valley, Willka T’ika is a peaceful retreat center just outside the town of Urubamba, a 75-minute drive from Cusco and en route to Machu Picchu. With deep roots in the local Quechua community, the center offers a welcoming space where cultural authenticity meets natural beauty.

Onsite you'll find two light-filled yoga studios, vibrant chakra gardens, and spaces to relax under ancient lucuma trees. Guests enjoy access to the Andean Spa, solar flower baths, and a gourmet vegetarian kitchen — all set amidst lush, organically cultivated grounds. The center’s local staff, many of whom have been part of the Willka T’ika community since its founding, help create a truly grounded and heartfelt experience.

On-Site Activities | Optional Add-ons

  • Individual spa and healing services may be scheduled by appointment upon arrival at Willka T’ika. Offerings include:

    • Floral Solar Baths — outdoor night-time soak in stone tubs that have been heated by sun during the day, then infused with flowers, medicinal herbs, and Maras salt

    • Andean Massage choice of full-body, aromatherapy, hot stone, and shiatsu bodywork styles

    • Facial — rejuvenating treatment using natural products infused with the ancient energy of fruit from the lucuma tree & other healing plants from the retreat’s on-site gardens

    • Crystal Light Therapy — a revitalizing but gentle half hour treatment that combines color, light, quartz crystals, and music to clear and realign the body’s chakras

  • **Despacho--Offering to Pachamama (2h) $45/person, 10 guest minimum

    Pending availability, participate with our Q'ero in an authentic Andean offering and transformative fire ceremony after dinner, to honor Pachamama, yourself and your loved ones, with focused intentions. Translator cost included. Advanced booking required.

  • Experience healing arts unlike anywhere else with Willka T’ika’s unique menu of offerings and ceremonies for small to large groups. Please note that these offerings are only available to a minimum group size and must be pre-reserved in advance of arrival. 

    • Sweat Lodge + Plunge Pool— a complete detoxification experience, starting in the homemade sweat lodge (Umpina Wasi) with a perspiration and inner cleansing session, followed by a cool down in the medicinal plunge pool (Hampi Yaku) infused with the sacred plant essence of your choice. (4 person min.)

    • Cacao Ceremony — ritual to help open the heart and connect with your higher self. This chocolate beverage made from the sacred cacao plant is prepared with love and served in a musical, meditative ceremony by a shamanic facilitator. (4 person min.)

    • Sound Healing — With a variety of beautiful instruments from around the world, our talented musician will help guests balance mental and physical equilibrium and reach a place of internal harmony

  • Book a mountain bike adventure above the Salt Mines or a horse-back riding tour along the Vilcanota River. There is also zip lining, paddle boarding, and ATV tours to be had. And don’t forget about the Incan ruins of Moray, Ollantaytambo and P’isaq or the weaving demonstrations in Chinchero.

    • Andean Art Workshop — Create your own unique piece of Andean art with Willka T’ika’s resident Quechua artist, Mario

Day Excursion to Machu Picchu

*If you wish to visit Machu Picchu, the group will have a chance to go June 30. This is an added expense on top of retreat price that must be arranged 3-4 months in advance.

  • Machu Picchu is an Incan citadel set high in the Andes Mountains in Peru, above the Urubamba River valley. Built in the 15th century and later abandoned, it’s renowned for its sophisticated dry-stone walls that fuse huge blocks without the use of mortar, intriguing buildings that play on astronomical alignments and panoramic views. Its exact former use remains a mystery. Now it is a place to pilgrimage and one of the Seven Wonders of the world.

    If you wish to visit Machu Picchu, the group will have a chance to go June 30th. This is an added expense on top of the retreat price that must be arranged 3-4 months in advance.

    Leaving at 6:30am for the train, getting done by 7pm (no yoga on this day). Per adult participant subject to availability -20+ adults: $475USD/p 10-19 adults: $495USD/p 5-9 adults: $545USD/p . BYC does not mark this excursion (or any others) up, this is what the tour providers charge. Includes: professional guide service, RT ground transport to/from Willka T'ika/Ollantaytambo train station, 1 Machu Picchu entrance ticket, 1 roundtrip bus ticketAguas Calientes/Machu Picchu, Peru Rail roundtrip train ticket, bottled water. Excludes: tips to guide and drivers. (Early Breakfast & dinner provided at Willka Tika)

Other Local Tours & Excursions

    • Maras Salt Mines (Salineras) — easy to moderate hiking trails (30 min drive or 6-mile out-and-back hike from retreat center) or 3-hr guided tour for $50/person

    • Perolniyoc Waterfall — 5.5-mile out-and-back moderate/difficult trail from Soqma Village & Trailhead (30 min drive from retreat center) or 5-hr guided tour w/ box lunch for $75/person (4 person min.)

    • Las Chullpas de Urubamba Ruins — 2.5-mile out-and-back moderate trail (20 min drive or 3-mile hike from retreat center) or 2-hr guided tour for $30/person

  • Rainbow Mountain or the Mountain of Seven Colors is a magnificent visual wonder. The mountain owes its unique visage to its varied mineral composition which include sandstone, quartzose, claystone, phyllites, and clays from the Upper Tertiary period, among others. This extremely high-altitude setting is perfect for photography and adventure.

    Arrangements can be made for this excursion as an add on day trip

  • The high-altitude hike to Humantay Lake is well worth the effort. Humantay is considered the most breathtaking and sacred lake in the region. The crystal-clear turquoise waters rival the beauty of the mountain vistas surrounding the lake. Humantay is the source of drinking water and irrigation for the area, so locals cherish and protect the lake’s purity for themselves and generations to come.

Willka T’ika rooms are nestled in charming spaces throughout the gardens with views of the spectacular Andes mountains and Willka T’ika’s breathtaking flowers and trees. Andean themes, Feng Shui principles, indigenous artwork, and sustainable, local materials inspire the rooms’ design. Each room is named for the Andean medicinal plant that grows at the doorstep of its private entrance. All rooms feature ensuite bathrooms and direct access to the gardens. Fresh-cut blossoms from our gardens welcome guests and cozy hot-water bottles warm your bed at night. Choose between a Single Room or one of two Shared Room options.

Retreat Details

  • Airports: Fly into Cusco International Airport

    Check in — 1:30 p.m.
    Check out — 10:00 a.m.

    Airport Shuttles: There is plenty to do close to the retreat center and you will have everything you need for an incredible experience. Shuttle service from the airport to the retreat center is included in the trip price if you fly in/out at recommended times. If you fly out of the recommended times we will help arrange a private car one way for $65 USD / 1-2 people.

  • The following expenses are not included in the total retreat cost:

    • Add on activities/excursions

    • (3) off-site lunches at local restaurants

    • Prices are per person + add 3% processing/admin fee for credit cards

    • Secure your spot with a $500 deposit; to be paid in person or online HERE. Once you place your deposit we will email you to confirm your preferred room choice.

    Final balance due 90 days before start of retreat.

  • Please be sure you will be able to attend before you submit your deposit. All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Payment is due in full 90 days prior to the start of the retreat. If you cancel 90 days or more prior to the retreat start date, you will be issued a refund, less your $500 non-refundable deposit.

    Trip insurance can protect your retreat investment if you need to cancel for covered circumstances. Due to retreat centers’ refund policies, we cannot offer any refunds, transfers or credits for cancellations for any reason within 90 days of the retreat start date.   • The Peru Yoga and Cultural Adventure Retreat can count as the required subtle body training in the 300 hour. There will be more opportubities to take subtle body focused modules at later dates if this experience is not accessible for you. Guided sessions throughout the week will focus on Prana, Shushumna and Prana Shakti and there will be opportunities to immerse in Peruvian Ceremonies led by the local Shaman and guides that will add CEU hours when appropriate. Required for completion of CE hours will be a practice teaching task to practice/integrate the techniques learned as well as a final paper - these assignments will be completed in the weeks after the retreat. Participants can obtain 24-28 CEU.

Claire Zurbrugg is the Founder of Bellingham Yoga Collective and Co-Founder of Lynden Yoga Collective. Her intent with the spaces she stewards is to offer a heart-full sanctuary where we can gather in community to be in relationship with source wisdom, accessed from inside each one of us. Her teachings stem from her extensive study with Karen Sprute-Francovich in the Anusara Yoga Methodology. Anusara is a Hatha style of yoga with strong emphasis on alignment starting in the foundation of a pose, a deep connection with our breath and upholding quality of heart while integratively moving.
